Hook up Powered Subwoofers: Receiver Pre-Outs

These mistakes can range from simple problematic issues to things that could quickly lead to premature device failure. Let me quickly explain why. Every cable has inherent resistance. The thinner the cable, the more resistance the cable will have. There are other factors as well, but this is the big one. The more resistance a cable has, the more it will affect the frequency response which is possible at the end of the cable run. The reason this is related is because the load the amplifier has to deal with when driving a pair of speakers, changes with frequency.

There are many reasons this can happen and there are many fuses that can be blowing out. Some of these problems are outside of the amplifier and are relatively easy to hunt down. Others are inside the amplifier and cannot be seen while the amplifier is installed. However these internal problems usually show external symptoms and a knowledgeable installer or technician can make a good guess on what is wrong based on these symptoms.

Yamaha and Pioneer both confirmed that they will incorporate Spotify Connect on some of their AV receivers at IFA The firmware upgrade for Yamaha AV receivers has been confirmed and is now available for download.

Edited by Chris Boylan Sexy Beast We have always found it a little bizarre when people in and around the consumer electronics industry have referred to a piece of electronics as “sexy. It’s sort of hard to look at something like that and get worked up the same way we’d look at Ryan Reynolds or Mila Kunis for the fellas , but dang, if the Pioneer VSX Receiver isn’t one sexy beast.

We all know right? Besides being a hub for all of your audio and video equipment, this component can decode all of today’s high-definition lossless audio formats, such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio for the best audio experience in the home. Even though it serves as the “brain” of your home’s 5. It doesn’t have a lot of the bells and whistles that some of today’s receivers have.

However, it does cover a little bit of everything, and does so at a very respectable list price: So while the VSX won’t stream music from three continents or power up other rooms or a party three blocks away, this receiver can crank watts 1kHz 8ohm to each of its five channels. It can also take in signals from four of your favorite HDMI-capable components and dish out 3D video pass-through, standby pass-through, and even provide support for audio return channel.

It’s important to note that if you do use the component or composite video inputs, you’ll also need to connect the corresponding component or composite monitor output from the receiver to the TV as the VSX does not convert these analog video signals to digital video for output over HDMI. Front and Center While speakers and flat panels have been getting all of the oohs and aahs over the years, the VSX certainly commands some attention. Because of that girth, we were unable to just swap it out for our old receiver.

The VSX needed a little extra breathing room and a totally different shelf.

It’s certainly not the prettiest girl at the dance, but it’s the one with the best personality. Everything in your home theater will be connected to this thing, so you’re going to want it to be good, right?

Oct 27,  · On the back of most Sony units (Presume that the loom is an original Sony loom as aftermarket or non Sony looms do not have the remote wire as a separate wire), this should be dark blue in colour with a female bullet connector on the end, sometimes this wire will have a white line down : Resolved.

To try to get this working, I recently purchased a secondary amp with RCA inputs to power the extra speakers. The additional speakers 5 pairs are mounted in the ceilings throughout the house. I also have a speaker selector box so that I can select which room or rooms I want to send the sound to. The output can be mono. I just want some sound to the other rooms. Any ideas short of buying a new amp with a 2nd zone output?

Thanks, -Rich DiPietro Hi, Rich, This is a question that we get from time to time for various receivers so I’ll answer for your specific receiver but will also give suggestions that would work for any receiver. Obviously the best option to accomplish what you are trying to do would be to use a “Zone 2” line level output or a “B Speakers” speaker output if your receiver had either of these which it doesn’t. But there are other options.

On some receivers, there are “tape output” or “preamp” outputs that could be connected to an external amplifier like the one you bought to drive the additional speakers. That output is turned off by default. To turn it on requires a trip to the Set-Up menu. On your receiver, it’s under “Home Menu See page 50 of your user manual for details.

Sorry, something has gone wrong. Answers Rating Newest Oldest The EQ is 2 channel and requires an amp the an EQ loop stereo out to stereo in between the pre and power sections of the amp circuits. Your AV receiver is 5. Finally, your deals with digital signals and some of those are encrypted in such a way that it makes it very difficult to break out audio and then reduce it from 5. IOW, the signals aren’t compatible with an analogue stereo device.

At least that way the EQ effect will be spread across all the ‘s speaker channels. It will only work for that single source though, not any others. The GR is a well respected EQ in analogue 2 channel circles. But it’s not possible to integrate it in more than a token way with a modern multichannel amp. Having the EQ connected between a stereo source and the receiver is about the most useful option, albeit limited to a single source.

Everything else is just making the lights dance and not actually having any effect on sound. I know this isn’t the answer you hoped to hear, but it is the truth.

In some ways, thick, high-end wire can present MORE of a problem than the conventional skinnier stuff. More on that later. For the purposes of discussion we will use the term “amp” short for amplifier to refer to any receiver, integrated amp or power amp. This sheet is intended for solid state, transistorized sets.

I have a Pioneer Elite Receiver SC that controls my home theater (tv,dvd, 5 speakers on zone 1, etc). Adding 2 new wired speakers to zone2 of my pioneer receiver. A) What is best connection – to attach the Sonos:Connect to my receiver- coax or toslink optical or rca analog.

Amplifiers are commonly added to car audio systems to provide extra power for speakers and subwoofers. Remote wires are included in amplifier wiring kits or can be purchased individually. Installing a remote wire is a simple task that should take less than 30 minutes. Strip off half an inch of the rubber sheath from one end of the remote wire using the wire strippers. Attach this end to the remote wire terminal on your amplifier.

Most amplifiers have a screw that holds the wire in place. Run the remote wire from the amplifier to the Pioneer car stereo unit. In almost all cases, amplifiers are installed in the trunk of a car. The wire must be snaked through to the passenger compartment of the car and should be installed under the door sill and carpet. While every car is different, it is usually possible to pull off the door sill and run the wire under.

Cut the remote wire to the proper length for your car and strip off a half inch of sheath from the end. Connect this end to the wiring harness of the stereo unit by twisting together the wire coming from the wiring harness and the remote wire.
